(Milwaukee) Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff could miss the 2024 season due to surgery he underwent Friday on the anterior capsule of his right shoulder.

According to the Brewers, Woodruff will miss most or all of next season. This injury prevented him from taking part in his team’s first round series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Texas Rangers physician Keith Meister performed the procedure in Arlington, Texas.

This Woodruff injury was disclosed on October 2 by the Brewers. He previously missed four months of the season with another shoulder injury. He made two starts before his name was placed on the injured list. Returning in August, he made nine starts before being injured again.

When he has been available, he has been excellent: a 5-1 record and a 2.28 ERA with 74 strikeouts in 67 innings.

Aged 30, Woodruff earned US$10.8 million this season. He is eligible for arbitration and could become a free agent after next season. He has a record of 46-26 and an m. p. mr. of 3.10 in seven seasons in Milwaukee.
