The heat begins to settle permanently. Nevertheless, the rises in temperature are accompanied by stormy showers. Again, on July 11, 2023, many departments will be in the rain. Find out in our slideshow below to find out if yours is affected by the return of bad weather.

“It is very hot on the entire east facade with sheltered temperature values generally between 35 and 39°C, with a few peaks at 40°C”, announces Cyril Bonnefoy, meteorologist for La Chaîne Météo. The heat wave episode therefore continues in certain regions such as Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur or Alsace. In parallel, a stormy degradation will begin to settle in the early afternoon.

On July 11, 2023, Météo-France places 22 departments on storm orange alert and 34 departments on storm yellow vigilance. Showers are expected to start around 2 p.m. and may continue until midnight. Indeed, “the storm cells then multiply rapidly, in particular fed by the overheated ground”, specifies Cyril Bonnefoy. The latter could therefore be particularly violent in these 22 departments with gusts of wind greater than 90 km / h.

Significant electrical activity could develop during thunderstorms. A risk of large hail is even expected in the north of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region and in Alsace. However, these rains are expected to drain quickly through Germany overnight. The heat will still be present during the evening with “temperatures [which] do not drop below 20°C in the large cities of Alsace and Burgundy, 23-24°C in the Lyon area and 23 to 26 ° C in the cities of the south-east”, concludes Cyril Bonnefoy. Consult our slideshow below to find out about the 22 departments placed in storm orange vigilance.
