It’s one of the viewers’ favourites. Since the creation of the 12 noon shots in 2010, more than 12,000 candidates have taken part in the game hosted by Jean-Luc Reichmann on TF1. For the duration of a broadcast, for a few weeks or several months, these anonymous players have had a unique experience.

Among these thousands of lucky people, Hugo has agreed to come back to his time in the famous noon game for Planet. At the end of 2020, this student in his twenties in political science entered the studios of La Plaine Saint-Denis where up to “several weeks of filming took place with 4-5 programs recorded per day”.

“We arrived, we greeted each other between the candidates, but afterwards, as it was during the covid period, we each had a dressing room and we were not allowed to leave it”, recalls- he. With the implementation of mandatory health measures, Hugo was only able to meet his opponents during their scouting and installation on the set. Facing the challengers of the day, a young champion who would quickly become famous: Bruno Hourcade, the greatest player and only millionaire on the game show.

“I was unlucky in coming across him, especially since he was not yet known,” recalls Hugo of their brief meeting. During Jean-Luc Reichmann’s show, the rounds follow one another, the anecdotes fuse and the young candidate manages to climb up to the final duel against the reigning master for the Fatal Blow test. But, Bruno will be stronger than him and the challenger loses the battle of questions in bursts after a minute of testing.

Despite his defeat, Hugo remains proud of his career in Les 12 coups de midi. He leaves with a few gifts and memories in mind, but prefers to keep his participation secret until the broadcast of the show in January 2021. Two and a half years later, the ex-candidate confides his memories of his casting to us.

“I sent a very simple application for the pre-selections in November,” says the student. As indicated on the TF1 website
