(Paris) The young Russian nugget Mirra Andreeva (143rd in the world, who is playing her first Grand Slam tournament at the age of 16, qualified for the third round of Roland-Garros by sweeping the French Diane Parry [79th] 6-1, 6-2 in the second round, Thursday.

For a place in the round of 16, Andreeva will face the outgoing finalist, the world No.6 Coco Gauff, or the Austrian Julia Grahber (61st).

The Russian teenager has not lost a single Porte d’Auteuil round, her three qualifying rounds included.

In the first round, she did not even need an hour to defeat American Alison Riske-Amritraj (85th) 6-2, 6-1. On the Simonne-Mathieu court on Thursday afternoon, she did not last too long (1 h 17 min).

Fourteen months ago, Andreeva was not yet ranked. And a year ago, she had reached the quarter-finals of the junior tournament on clay in Paris.

His qualification for the third round already guarantees him a place in the top 100 at the end of Roland-Garros.
