(Minneapolis) Quebecer Édouard Julien hit his fourth home run and drove in two runs on Saturday as the Minnesota Twins won 9-7 at the expense of the Toronto Blues Jays.

Hitting second, the second baseman slammed a solo homer in the eighth, six innings after a one-run double. He also hit a double in the first inning.

Julien is hitting .239 in 15 big league games, with four homers and eight RBIs.

Matt Walner had four hits, including a two-run single and a solo homer.

Willi Castro drove in three runs with two homers. One of those slaps hit Daulton Varsho’s glove before ending up beyond the center field fence in the fifth.

“One of those games where it was all or nothing,” Varsho said. I had it and then it came out of my glove when I hit the fence. »

Alex Kiriloff and Kyle Farmer had two hits apiece.

Julien, Walner, Kiriloff and Farmer have spent time with St. Paul in the AAA this year.

“When you go to the branch, you want those guys to help you win,” Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said. It’s a bonus when they take control like they did today. »

Chris Bassitt (5-4) gave up seven runs and nine hits in four innings.

It was his shortest outing since his first start of the season on April 2.

Bo Bichette had three hits and four RBIs.

It moved to a duplicate of the carousel.

Bichette leads major league baseball with 76 hits this season.

He also leads the major leagues with 22 more than one hits.

Varsho and Cavan Biggio also provided four-goal shots.

Pablo Lopez (3-3) was the winner, although he allowed four runs, five hits and three walks, in five and two-thirds innings.

The Jays racked up three runs in the ninth and then Brandon Belt had runners on the ends, with two outs.

Brock Stewart got away with it when, after a foul ball, the plate umpire declared a bit low back-to-back shots.

Sunday’s starting pitchers will be Jose Berrios and Bailey Ober.

Once the Twins’ ace, Berrios had 40 wins with them from 2017-19.
