(Paris) The Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who retained his title in Madrid on Sunday, is just five points behind the world No.1, Novak Djokovic, in the ATP ranking published on Monday, and should soon recover his throne.

Back on the heels of the Serb, Alcaraz will only need to play a match at the Masters 1000 in Rome next week to be sure of reestablishing themselves at the top of world tennis at the end of the Italian tournament.

The youngest world No.1 in history had not played in Rome a year ago, when Djokovic won there.

The only change in the Top 10 sees American Taylor Fritz take 9th place at the expense of Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime.

The Russian Karen Khachanov, he recovered the 11th place, ceded last week to the American Frances Tiafoe.

Croatian Borna Coric climbs four positions to 16th place.

Down six places, the German Alexandr Zverev, 22nd, left the Top 20 for the first time since May 2017.

Defeated in the final in Madrid, Jan-Lennard Struff moved up 37 places to 28th in the world.

At 33, the German, quarter-finalist at Wimbledon in 2018, obtains the best ranking of his career, which began on the circuit in 2009.
