(Toronto) Rory McIlroy will be chasing a third straight RBC Canadian Open title.

McIlroy’s name was part of the first contingent of golfers announced Monday who will compete in the Men’s National Golf Championship from June 8-11.

McIlroy won the tournament in 2019 and again in 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the event to be canceled twice. He will therefore tread the course of the Oakdale Golf and Country Club, in the Toronto area, with some of the biggest names in golf.

Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick, recent winner of the RBC Heritage Classic, have also confirmed their participation.

Many Canadians will also be in action, including Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes and Adam Svensson.

The Canadian Open was first held in 1904 and is one of the oldest golf tournaments in the world. Pat Fletcher was the last Canadian to win it, in 1954.

The tournament has also become a cultural event, as a series of concerts will be presented alongside the competition.

The group Black Eyed Peas will be one of the artists present. Canadian Alanis Morissette will headline the concert on the Saturday of the tournament weekend.
