(Los Angeles) Aerosmith will celebrate the rock band’s 50th anniversary with an ultimate tour, which will include a stop in Montreal.

The band announced Monday 40 dates for their latest tour, titled Peace Out, which kicks off Sept. 2 in Philadelphia.

The group will notably be visiting Boston, its hometown, for New Year’s Eve, and Montreal on January 26.

“I think it was about time,” said guitarist Joe Perry.

Perry said the band, along with vocalist Steven Tyler, bassist Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer and guitarist Brad Whitford, learned from directing and producing their recent residency shows in Las Vegas.

“It’s a chance, in a way, to celebrate [our] 50 years,” he said. You never know how long everyone is going to be healthy doing this. »

Tyler and Perry said the band can’t wait to dig into their long catalog of classics, including Crazy, Janie’s Got a Gun and Livin’ on the Edge.

Over the years, Aerosmith, which formed in 1970, has garnered four Grammys. The band broke the boundaries between rock and hip-hop with their epic collab with Run-DMC for Walk This Way.

Aerosmith presented the Super Bowl halftime show in 2001 and even had its own park attraction in 1999 at Disney World in Florida and later in Paris with the launch of the Starring Aerosmith Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster ride.

“We’re opening Pandora’s Box one last time to introduce our fans to the Peace Out Tour,” Steven Tyler said in a statement to The Associated Press, referring to the band’s Pandora’s Box compilation album, launched in 1991.

“Be there or watch out because we’re getting all the toys out of the attic.” Get ready,” he warned.

The band announced that Joey Kramer had decided not to participate in the current dates of the next tour. He’s still a part of the band, but the drummer has been on leave to “focus his attention on his family and his health” since residency in Las Vegas last year. Drummer John Douglas will continue to play in his place.
