This French television competition has been organized since 2018 by the Journal de 13 heures de TF1. This initiative was created by Jean-Pierre Pernaut, still a creator of television content at the initiative of regional activities. Currently, the competition is co-hosted by Marie-Sophie Lacarrau and Thierry Coiffier in partnership with the regional daily press.

Started in 2018, this competition was first led by Jean-Pierre Pernaut accompanied by Dominique Lagrou-Sampère. In the same genre, the programs “The favorite village of the French” and “The favorite monument of the French” were also launched under the leadership of JPP.

In an interview granted in March 2019 in Paris-Normandy, the presenter explained how the idea for this competition came about: “We often went, in the 1 p.m. news, to the markets. We were looking for how to highlight the local shops, local products, regional cultures… And the place where you find all that is the markets. We then said to ourselves, who knows the markets in their region best? regional dailies. We therefore proposed to all the titles of the PQR (regional daily press) to play the game with us in order to promote this region which is full of treasures.”.

The regional daily press is associated with this operation, so the 24 regions are all represented by at least one regional daily. These dailies reserve a special page on their website to allow readers and viewers to vote and thus elect the “most beautiful market in the region”, which then participates in the national competition.

Secondly, the competition is the subject, each week, of a section in the Journal de 13 heures de TF1 in which the 24 markets in the running are presented during reports. Viewers can vote for their favorite market on the dedicated TF1 website.

For this edition you can vote for your favorite market until May 25th. The next day, the competition enters a new phase with the final at 10. The winner of this year 2023 will be announced during the week of June 26.

Discover now the selection of the 24 most beautiful markets and choose which of them will succeed the Narbonne market.
