Paul Byron is “not ready” to make a decision about his future, but his tone is unmistakable.

The first player to speak on the Habs’ end-of-season tally, the 33-year-old forward, who missed the entire season and the majority of the previous one due to recurring hip injuries, said he still hopes play”, but that realistically the prospects are not exciting.

His contract will expire on July 1, after which he will be an unrestricted free agent. He gives himself “a few weeks” to think about his future. No one would be surprised if he announces his retirement.

In 383 games with the Habs, he scored 81 goals and added 79 assists, for 160 points.
