CF Montreal — Revolution | A chance to turn the page

CF Montreal will quickly want to forget their humiliating 5-0 loss against the Vancouver Whitecaps and to do so they will cross swords with the New England Revolution on Saturday night.

This will be a last stop for the CFM before returning to the Saputo stadium. The trip hurt the troops of Hernán Losada. They will not only try to get a first point on the road in their fifth meeting, but also to vibrate the ropes for the first time outside.

Saturday’s loss to the Whitecaps was the second-biggest setback in CFM history. It is also the first time since the Impact’s first season in MLS that the Bleu-blanc-noir has started its campaign with four losses in five games. In short, a result becomes imperative for morale.

According to the highly reliable availability report, seven CFM players will be sidelined, including Samuel Piette, Lassi Lappalainen and George Campbell. Central defender Rudy Camacho will also be absent as he must serve his one-game suspension for a red card he received early in the game against Vancouver. We can therefore expect several defensive changes.

Standing in front of the CFM in their stronghold called Gillette Stadium, the Revolution have won four in six games this season and suffered only one setback. Attacking midfielder Carles Gil and striker Gustavo Bou will want to be thieves again for the club occupying third place in the Eastern Association.

However, the CFM had success against the Revolution last year: the Montrealers won both games by an aggregate score of 5-0. Romell Quioto, who is expected to return on Saturday, shone against the Thirteen Colonies club. Since he has been with the Bleu-blanc-noir, since 2020, he has scored four goals against the Revolution. Only the prolific Valentín Castellanos has done better in this period with five wins.

The duel against the Revolution will be broadcast through the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, starting at 7:30 p.m. Now the norm, Frédéric Lord and Vincent Destouches will host a third consecutive game for CF Montreal.
