(Barcelona) FC Barcelona called on Monday for the resignation of Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, following press reports that he had handed over to the public prosecutor’s office a letter wrongly implicating two former presidents of the club in the “Negreira” case. “.

A Barcelona court is investigating a complaint by the city’s public prosecutor’s office regarding suspicious payments of money made by Barça to companies belonging to the former director of arbitration (CTA), José María Enríquez Negreira.

After the information published by the daily La Vanguardia according to which “the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, is linked to the presentation of false evidence to the Public Ministry to incriminate our club, FC Barcelona wishes to express its deep anger, indignation and disgust “, immediately accused the club in a press release.

In this text, Barça demands that Tebas “appear publicly to provide explanations”, while stating that “out of dignity and respect for the presidency of LaLiga, Mr. Tebas should resign from office”.

According to La Vanguardia, Tebas included in a brief to the prosecutor’s office a document from a deceased former Barcelona manager, which he had access to in connection with the ‘Soule affair’, in which LaLiga became a party. civilian and where the former management of the Spanish Football Federation is under investigation for alleged embezzlement.

Tebas suggests that some of the names appearing in this document could be those of former presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu, who are under investigation in the Negreira case, the daily reports.

“We consider that the first and last names given in the handwritten note may coincide with the first and/or last names of some former FCB leaders,” he continued.

To support its article, the newspaper points out that the family of the deceased former official revealed the names appearing in the document, which excludes that it is the two ex-presidents.

“The title of La Vanguardia is false, we do not accuse anyone,” Tebas denounced in a message on his social networks. “The news itself corroborates this by stating what was said in the document addressed to the prosecutor’s office. Nor does this document imply any specific accusation against anyone.”

In its press release, Barça reiterates that it feels “victim of a media lynching for facts that never took place: Barça has never bought referees”.

In this case, the complaint targets Negreira, FC Barcelona as a legal entity and former managers of the club, including presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu, for alleged offenses of “corruption”, “breach of trust” and “false business records”.

In addition to the former Barça leaders and Negreira himself, the court also demands that the ex-RFEF president Ángel María Villar, appear again as an accused.
