The assistance provided by the Ministry of Culture and Communications to alternative and private performance venues such as Club Soda or the Lion D’Or de Montréal will continue over the next three years, the Ministry’s cabinet confirmed on Friday.

They will receive an envelope of $5 million over three years from the Société de développement des entreprises culturelle (SODEC) as part of its Plan to consolidate, shine and propel the cultural milieu.

This Plan to propel the cultural milieu, which provides for a total sum of $225.8 million over three years, will also make it possible to support Quebec audiovisual production. The total amounts will decrease: 145.5 million in 2022-2023; 41 million in 2023-2024 and 39.3 million in 2024-2025.

Budget 2023-2024 also provides sums of money for the continuation and adaptation to the different contexts of support for the presentation of shows. We are talking about 12.8 million in 2023-2024; 7.7 million in 2024-2025 and 3.3 million in 2025-2026.
