Guillaume Boivin (Israel – Premier Tech) hosted the show at the very end of the fourth stage of the Tour of Catalonia by finding himself at the front of the peloton. The Quebecer set the table for his New Zealand teammate Corbin Strong who finally took third place in a mass sprint.

From the first moments of the stage, a group of five riders attacked to escape and they survived until 4 kilometers from the finish where the peloton engulfed them.

After actively participating in the comeback on the runaways, Boivin continued his role as a teammate by leading Strong and Ottawa’s Michael Woods towards the sprint in the last meters separating them from the finish line.

Strong fought hard, but was finally overtaken by the Australian Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deuceuninck), winner of the stage, as well as by the Frenchman Bryan Coquard (Cofidis), second of the day.

“It was a good day for us, but it was tough again. We controlled the traffic in the peloton for a good part of the day and we went there for the sprint with Corbin Strong. It was really close! “Commented Boivin in an interview with Sportcom.

For his part, the Montrealer crossed the finish line in 36th place, while Michael Woods finished in 23rd place.

“Personally, I’m really happy with my day’s work. I managed to get the job done for my teammates. It’s a great team performance, it’s good for morale and confidence. We continue to work hard, and we hope to do even better next time,” he added.

With three stages to go by the end of the Tour of Catalonia, Michael Woods is now sixth in the provisional general classification, 48 seconds behind the leader, the Slovenian Primoz Roglic (Jumbo-Visma). Guillaume Boivin is 130th (44 minutes and 41 seconds).

The fifth stage will be held on Friday over 176.6 kilometers between Tortosa and Mirador del Portell.
