After a tough first set, where she was unable to complete a break of serve, Marino, the 83rd player in the world, needed only 32 minutes to win the second.

The 32-year-old British Columbian had a service break in the opening game of the second set and a second in the fifth game.

Against a 28-year-old player ranked 43rd in the world, Marino was dominant on serve, with 10 aces and no double faults.

She hit 61% of her first serve points, won 81% of the points after lodging her first serve and faced no break points. In the second set, Marino only lost five points on his serve.

In the next round, Marino will face sixth-seeded American Coco Gauff, who enjoyed a bye leading her directly to the second round.

Fruhvirtova, ranked 50th in the world, entered the tournament 122 places ahead of Sebov in the standings.

Sebov broke Fruhvirtova’s serve eight times in 12 occasions, in a match where both opponents struggled on serve. Sebov was broken six times in nine occasions.

In the next round, Sebov will face third seed Jessica Pegula of the United States.
