Winter will be sober or it won’t be. Faced with the threat of gas and electricity supply difficulties in the coming months, the government has drawn up an energy sobriety plan. Among the measures taken, a decree making it possible to deactivate hot water tanks between noon and 2 p.m. in certain private homes.

An idea that has borne fruit, rejoices Enedis in the columns of Le Parisien. “After a month and a half, the experiment to reduce the noon peak has therefore proven itself and is a success. This has allowed us to save 2,400 megawatts (MW) of power”, explains Thierry Sudret, the Director of Operations and Systems of the Electricity Distribution System Operator.

Be careful though: these cuts only concern hot water, and only occur twice a day. If you notice that you are deprived of cold water, or that your tap no longer obeys you after 2 p.m., there is probably another problem in your installation. In our slideshow below, check out the list of five reasons that could explain a water cut in your home this winter or at any other time of the year.

Do you notice that your faucets are no longer flowing? The first reflex to have is to contact your supplier to understand the origin of the problem. Do not hesitate to knock on the door of your neighbors to find out if they are also concerned. In the event of a technical problem with your own installation, you will need to call a plumber.

“In the event of a general outage in your area, keeping the taps closed will facilitate the replenishment of water, which you will be informed by the management services of your network. An air purge will probably be necessary, it should be done without problem. when you open your taps for the first time”, advises Multimat Compteurs.
