The CGT has launched a general strike call this Thursday, November 10, 2022. This will be the 4th interprofessional strike since the start of the school year. Following the low participation in the strike day of October 27, the CGT again called to take to the streets to defend the rights of workers, in particular concerning the decried pension reform.

The central demand of the strikers would be a general increase in wages, and their indexation to inflation, according to DemarchesAdministratives.fr. The objective of these strikes, which has proved attainable in the past, is to force the companies to enter into negotiations with the unions.

Extracurricular services, providing study at the end of the day or even the canteen in primary schools in particular, will also see many employees join the strike movement: some childcare centers will therefore be closed.

Many events are also planned for this “Black Thursday”: across France, nearly 140 rallies are currently scheduled, according to the CGT website. The RATP has joined the strike, and has already announced the closure of the vast majority of its metro lines, as well as very disrupted traffic on the RER lines.
