The month of July is off to a flying start. While the month of June was marked by an early heatwave episode, this first month of the summer holidays began with a major episode of heat and storms over a third of France. According to La Chaîne Météo, “the storms resume mainly from the Massif Central to Rhône-Alpes and the Jura until mid-evening before evacuating to Italy and Switzerland” despite a lull on Monday morning. Faced with the risks incurred by the inhabitants, Météo France has placed 37 departments on yellow storm vigilance. Check them out in our slideshow below.

The site specializing in meteorology also announces hailstorms in places, as well as powerful gusts of wind that can go up to 90 km / h. “The electrical activity is important, which can lead to the risk of lightning strikes”, specifies the forecaster. The hail falls will be particularly important in the departments of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

In addition to the yellow storm vigilance which already affects around thirty departments, Météo France has also placed nine departments on vigilance for the risk of heat waves. Here they are :

If your department is on the list above, avoid going out during the hottest hours, between 11 a.m. and 9 p.m. Hydrate regularly and continue to eat normally, while wetting your body several times a day. The government also recommends closing shutters, curtains and windows during the day and then ventilating at night.

“Use a fan and / or air conditioning if you have it. Otherwise try to go to a cool or air-conditioned place (supermarkets, cinemas, etc.) two to three hours a day”, continues the Ministry of the Interior.
