The start of the holidays could well be delayed for some Julyists. The CGT, FO, CFDT, CFTC, Sud, Unsa and Solidaires unions published a leaflet on Friday calling for a new strike on Saturday July 2 at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport. Similar movements are also planned at Paris-Orly, reports Le Parisien.

This call follows a similar movement that already took place on Thursday, June 9. During this day, despite a quarter of canceled flights and a demonstration that brought together between 800 and 1,000 people, the strikers’ claim was not accepted.

The unions are demanding a general salary increase of 300 euros. “To deal with the health crisis, employees had to accept salary cuts of around 18% by eliminating bonuses and allowances”, justifies a CGT official for ADP in Orly in the columns of the daily.

“The air transport crisis is a pretext for employers to reduce wages and the workforce for a single purpose: to increase shareholder dividends, denounce the unions in their leaflet. The 300 euros are more than legitimate in view of the staggering profits of the businesses,” she added.

If ADP has assured to reopen wage negotiations from June 14, the strikes of July 2 could have a significant impact than the departures on vacation of many workers.
