Michel Drucker: this radio station that dismissed him because of his age

At the dawn of his 80th birthday, Michel Drucker retains the same popularity and still remains one of the favorite animators of the French. But, after 36 years on France 2, things will change for him with a new version of “Vivement dimanche”, scheduled for next September.

Back on public service screens since March 2021, Michel Drucker had raised many concerns among his aficionados, following his heart operation. Visibly happy to find his loyal audience, he explained in an exclusive interview with Le Parisien that he had thought long and hard about the evolution of this meeting, of which he will offer a new version, which will see outstanding personalities of French cinema and humor. .

Willingly turned towards the provinces, it will also offer a monthly place to figures still present in the hearts of the French. A first special program will thus be devoted to Bourvil and presented by his own children. Described as “moving” by the main interested party, this decision is accompanied by a modified schedule, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., just opposite the “1:15 p.m.” by Laurent Delahousse, on France 2.

For this child from Basse-Normandie, the next provincial anchorage of “Vivement dimanche” comes to embody the diversity of its viewers, allowing him to “keep his feet on the ground”. This passionate politician, hyperactive, would however, at one time, have liked to revive his mythical “Champs-Elysées”, after having seen anthology programs invite themselves to the screens. Now expected to present a daily talk show during the 2024 Paris Olympics, Michel Drucker still regrets not having been able to return to the radio.

Despite major discussions with the director of France Inter, Laurence Bloch, around an adaptation of “Radioscopie”, the program of Jacques Chancel, no compromise could be found. In the interview he gave to the Parisian, he is particularly sorry to have “understood that she [le] found it too old” and adds, with humor, to seek “an associative radio for nursing homes”. While he observes the current state of Europe 1, he wonders about a possible collaboration with France Bleu, without despairing of one day finding the way to the airwaves.
