Rosie Duffield, Labour MP, contemplates her future after being harrassed by ‘obsessive harassment’

Rosie Duffield, Labour MP, says that she is evaluating her future with the party “very carefully” after experiencing what she described as an “obsessive harassment”.

On social media, the MP for Canterbury described how she was subject to ‘personally, libellous and nasty’ comments about her by ex- and current Labour party members.

Ms. Duffield stated that she was not offered any help by the party or legal aid to pursue a case for libel.

She stated, “For many years now. It’s an obsessive harassment. It is an obsessive harrassment. Neither the Labour Party, nor the Whips Office, former or current Leader, have done anything to stop it. They also have not offered me any legal support, help, or assistance. I cannot afford to file a libel case …”.

She told the Sunday Times in September 2021 that she was forced to withdraw from the Labour party conference at Brighton due to threats received on-line by militant activists following her views regarding transgender issues.

According to her, she was transphobic because she “knows that only women have a cervical”.

Ms. Duffield was elected to represent Canterbury, Whitstable and the Villages in 2017. She thanked all those who supported her since her first posts on Twitter Sunday (30 January)

She said, “Thanks very much to everyone who sent supportive messages. But just to be clear, this matter does not relate to my stance regarding women’s rights. I need the support of the Labour party in Kent, and against the constant stream fictional and factional bile about me.

A spokesperson for Labour Party stated that the party was still in contact with Rosie Duffield, and had offered her support and advice.
