This shooting took place amid a spate of smash-and grab burglaries targeting Bay Area businesses that has put the public on edge.

The news outlet reported that an armed security guard was hired to protect a San Francisco TV news crew on assignment. He was killed Wednesday in an attempted armed robbery.

The KRON4 crew visited Oakland to cover a story about a recent smash and grab robbery. Shots were fired at 12:20 p.m., and the security guard was injured.

Jim Rose, vice-president and general manager of Fox News, said that the unidentified guard was in recovery at the hospital. He had undergone surgery and is still in stable but critical condition.

Rose stated that Rose was able to confirm that Rose’s reporter had not been physically hurt but was shaken. “At KRON 4, safety is our top priority. That is why we assign security personnel to reporters who are working in the field.”

He said, “Most importantly, we are sending our thoughts and prayers to the security guard’s family and wish them a speedy recovery.”

Authorities asked nearby residents and businesses with surveillance cameras to look for evidence of the attack.

It’s been a very violent week, as you all know. “We are asking you to check your surveillance footage if you were there, have a place nearby, or have any information about the crime.

This shooting occurred amid a spate of smash-and grab burglaries that targeted Bay Area retailers. Looters ransacked an Oakland clothing shop and stole everything they could in a matter of minutes on Monday.

Police have warned that armed caravans could be roving the city, targeting retail shops, clothing stores, pharmacies and cannabis dispensaries. The police department stated Wednesday that they will increase staffing to deal with the situation.

Chief LeRonne Armstrong Monday said that officers confronted a caravan of vehicles armed with hundreds of guns, aiming at cannabis businesses. They fired 175 rounds at police.

He said that multiple businesses were broken into and many shootings took place in a 10-hour span on Saturday.

Armstrong stated, “I need to be able to call on the leaders of the city because despite 124 homicides, there hasn’t been one request for an emergency meeting in Oakland to discuss gun violence.” I’m asking the council members to get involved and have a discussion about the city’s loss of life. It doesn’t matter if you support or not the police; there is a problem here. This city was forced to deal with a lot of violence this weekend, and it’s unacceptable.

Over the weekend, organized crime rings raided multiple shops across San Francisco. One of them was a Louis Vuitton shop at Union Square. There, thousands of dollars worth in merchandise were stolen. Nine people were charged in this case.

Los Angeles and Chicago are also experiencing a wave of robberies that involve organized theft rings.
