Hurricane Pamela struck Mexico’s Pacific coast north of Mazatlan Wednesday. It brought high winds and rain to the port.

Just before hitting the coast, Pamela was at its hurricane strength again. It is located approximately 40 miles (65kms) north Mazatlan and serves as a resort to Mexican tourists.

According to the U.S. National Hurricane Center, Pamela was able to generate winds up to 75 mph (120 km/h) when it made landfall. However, it is likely that it will weaken quickly as it moves inland.

The hurricane was moving northeast at approximately 14 mph (22 km/h), and its remnants could reach Texas on Thursday.

The hurricane center warned about the potential for dangerous winds and life-threatening storm surges in the area.

Pamela, which was expected to weaken as it crossed over northern Mexico, could approach Texas as a tropical depression or remnants late Wednesday or Thursday. According to the center, remnants of the storm could bring heavy rain to southeast Oklahoma and central Texas.
