NEW YORK — Novels regarding slavery, immigration and drug therapy are among this year’s winners of awards presented from the J. Anthony Lukas Project.

Jessica Goudeau’s”Following the previous Border: Two Families and the Story of Refuge at America” won the Lukas Book Prize, a $10,000 honor to get a politically themed job which shows”literary elegance, devotion to serious study, and initial reporting.”

On Wednesday, the Lukas project also declared two work-in-progress awards, each having a $25,000 cash prize to Aid with the publication’s conclusion: Emily Dufton, for”Addiction, Inc.: The Corporate Takeover of America’s Remedy Industry Produced a Profitable Epidemic” and Casey Parks, for”Diary Of a Misfit.”

The Lukas job, based at Columbia University, is known for the late investigative reporter and writer. The awards were created in 1998 and have been given to Robert Caro, Isabel Wilkerson and Jill Lepore amongst others.
