The renowned pianist and orchestra director Daniel Barenboim offered last night a charity concert in favour of the Spanish Red Cross and the people affected by the Covid-19 in the framework of the International Festival of Music and Dance of Granada, informs EP. Barenboim made his debut four decades ago in the Granada Festival, and he gave his last solo recital in the 1985 edition, 35. On this occasion, he returned to the Palace of Charles V, where he played the Sonata no. 31 op.110 of Beethoven Variations Diabelli, op.120.

The director of the orchestra, argentine, naturalized Spanish, israeli and palestinian, will commemorate this year its 70th anniversary in the scenarios, after your public presentation, when he was just seven years, August 19, 1950, in Buenos Aires.

on June 22, 1980, Barenboim gave the inaugural concert of the XXIX Festival of Granada, in the Palace of Carlos V, with Variations Diabelli –along with Sonatas no. 8 and no. 23– Ludwig van Beethoven, in a historical recital last night went back to recreate forty years later, in the same scenario.

Later, in 1981, he directed two concerts with the Orchestra of Paris and, from 2005 to 2011, he visited regularly the Granada Festival every summer, always to the front of his orchestra, the Staatskapelle Berlin, performing several piano concertos of Mozart, Beethoven and Chopin as the soloist.

in Addition to Barenboim, the program of the 69th edition of the Festival of Granada has included pianists of world renown such as Grigory Sokolov, Martha Argerich, along with Renaud Capuçon, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Bertrand Chamayou, or Krystian Zimerman, commissioned the latter to do, tomorrow, the closing.
