Young Valérie Lemercier: her vintage photos when she started

Comedian, actress, humorist… Valérie Lemercier will celebrate her 58th birthday this Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Born in 1964 in Dieppe, the young woman joined Paris at the age of 18 to pursue drama lessons.

It was in 1988 that she managed to land her first role as an extra in the television series Palace. She will then obtain a more recurring role in this program, that of Lady Palace, which will allow her to begin to make herself known.

Valérie Lemercier succeeded the same year in being selected to play the character of Madame Boutelleau in the film Milou in May alongside the famous actress Miou-Miou and Michel Piccoli. In 1993, it was her role in the hit comedy Les Visiteurs that made her known to the general public.

The film with Christian Clavier and Jean Reno tells the misadventures of a knight and his squire who find themselves propelled to our time. It marked an entire generation and is now generally considered one of the classics of comic cinema. The performance of Valérie Lemercier who gives her features not to one character but to two, will allow her to win the César for best actress in a supporting role that year.

After this film, the actress went on to success through her roles in Neuilly sa mère, Asterix and Obelix: Au service de sa majesté, Le petit Nicolas or Orchestra seats, which allowed her to win her second César for Best Actress in a supporting role in 1997, as Gala points out.

Recently, her film Aline, freely inspired by the life of Celine Dion, earned her three nominations for the César 2022 in the best director, best film and best actress category. She also won the latter.
