A lost treasure at the bottom of your wallet. The red and yellow coins are cumbersome and yet very useful when you need to top up at a merchant. If many French people would not get rid of them for anything in the world, others do not really know what to do with them, while they represent a significant jackpot, if you add them up.

2 cents, 5 cents, 10 cents, 50 cents… You don’t know what to do with your spare change? Different tricks allow you to get rid of it effectively, while making room in your pockets. Here they are :

Thanks to these tricks, you can collect one euro or even two euro coins and why not banknotes, making it easier to pay in cash. Did you know that you can also facilitate your purchasing power with small change? In this period of inflation, it is really not a refusal. You probably don’t know it, but you can already credit your loyalty card with these little cents: all you have to do is use a Eurocycleur terminal, which will transform the change into virtual money on the loyalty program of your favorite supermarket.

You still need to have a terminal at home to be able to take advantage of it… And this is not the case for everyone. Don’t panic, you can also use these pennies to turn them into vouchers. We explain how to do it at your supermarket.

We know that you will not use your small change, even if you have perhaps five, ten or twenty euros in your hands. A problem to which the Coinstar company seems to have found the solution. As Le Parisien explained in 2022, the company allows you to convert your pennies into vouchers in supermarkets. Asked by the daily, the general manager of the company Patrick de Baecque explains: “60% of small parts are only used once, so our goal is to convince people to reinject them into the economy”.

Installed near many hypermarkets, these machines take a commission of 9.9% on the amounts converted, but give change on the voucher when you go to checkout. Here are the stores where they are installed.

To qualify for this service, you just need to slide your coins into the machine, which does the math for you and prints a receipt for the value of your exchange. Here are the different supermarkets where these machines are installed in France:

A voucher for three euros, another for five euros… This exchange of currency will certainly not allow you to pay for all of your shopping, but it will allow you to reduce the bill a little, which is not really no refusal in this period of inflation, when the worst is not yet over.
