(Paris) The WTA remains dominated by the Polish Iga Swiatek, ahead of the Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka and the American Jessica Pegula, while the Kazakh Elena Rybakina climbs two places (4th), according to the ranking published Monday.
For Swiatek, comfortably installed on the world throne for more than a year, the main concern is the state of her right thigh, which forced her to retire on Wednesday in the quarter-finals of the Masters 1000 in Rome and caused her to hover a doubt about her presence at Roland-Garros, which begins on Sunday and of which she is the defending champion.
His opponent in this quarter-final, Elena Rybakina, took advantage of her title in Rome, her second success in a WTA 1000 after Indian Wells in March, to reach the best rank of her career (4th) at the age of 23.
