(Paris) The Kazakh Elena Rybakina, winner of the Brisbane tournament on Sunday, took third place in the WTA rankings published on Monday, at the expense of the American Coco Gauff.
This is the only change in the top 10 at the start of the season.
Rybakina soundly defeated Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, still world number 2, the day before in the final of the WTA 500 tournament in Brisbane, Australia, 6-0, 6-3.
This was a match in the form of a replay of the 2023 Australian Open final, then won by Sabalenka. Elena Rybakina is therefore full of confidence by winning her 6th title, less than a week before the start of the first round of the Grand Slam in Melbourne.
American Coco Gauff falls to 4th place in the rankings, the day after her victory at the 250 tournament in Auckland.
Chinese Qinwen Zheng, 21, obtained the best ranking of her career, in 13th position (1).
