(Gothenburg) Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten was named captain of Team Canada on Sunday ahead of the World Junior Hockey Championship.

The team leadership also named four co-captains who all have experience and leadership qualities.

One of them is Owen Beck, a prospect for the Montreal Canadiens. The others are Maveric Lamoureux (Arizona Coyotes), Matthew Poitras (Boston Bruins) and Matthew Savoie (Buffalo Sabres).

Canada has won two of the three preparatory matches it has participated in over the past few days.

After victories of 8-0 against Denmark and 6-3 against Switzerland, the Canadian team lost 6-5, in overtime, at the hands of the United States on Saturday.

The team led by Ontarian Alan Letang will try to win this tournament for a third consecutive year. Canada will play its first Group A match against Finland on December 26.
