(Tampere) The United States maintained its perfect record at the Ice Hockey World Championship with a 4-1 win over Austria on Wednesday.

Lane Hutson, a 2022 Montreal Canadiens draft pick, and Nick Perbix led the United States offense with one goal and one assist each.

Rocco Grimaldi and Carter Mazur also found the back of the net for the American outfit, winning their first four games since the start of the group stage.

Sean Farrell, another Habs draft pick, picked up an assist.

The United States top the Group A standings with 12 points, the result of their four regular-time wins. They lead Sweden and Denmark by four points.

Sweden will play their next match on Thursday against Hungary, while Denmark will take on Germany, also on Thursday.

Austria are seventh in Group A with one point after four games.

At the same time in Riga, Latvia beat Norway 2-1 to claim a second victory in Group B.

Rodrigo Abols and Toms Andersons scored for Latvia within 39 seconds early in the second half.

Later Wednesday, Canada were looking for a fourth straight win as they take on Kazakhstan in a Group B duel.

Canada entered the game with a total of eight points, one shy of Switzerland, who won their first three games in regulation time and all by shutout. Switzerland will play their next match on Thursday against Slovakia.
