(Chicago) The Chicago White Sox fired executive vice president Ken Williams and general manager Rick Hahn on Tuesday.

Williams was in his 11th season as vice-president, having served as general manager for 12 seasons. Hahn had been the team’s general manager since October 2012.

The White Sox are quietly ending a miserable season. They were 49-76 going into Tuesday’s game against the Seattle Mariners.

The Chicago squad made the playoffs in 2020 and 2021 before going 81-81 last year.

In the release announcing the layoffs, the White Sox said they plan to have a new chief baseball operations officer in place by the end of the season.
