Wells Fargo Championship | Tyrell Hatton, Wyndham Clark and Nate Lashley lead the way

(Washington) England’s Tyrell Hatton and Americans Wyndham Clark and Nate Lashley topped the standings on Friday after the second day of the Wells Fargo Championship golf tournament, counting for the North American GPA circuit.

Hatton, 31, scored an eagle and two birdies on his last four holes to post his best card of the season at 65 (-6 under par).

At the end of the second day of this tournament disputed on the course of Quail Hollow, in Charlotte (North Carolina) and endowed with 20 million dollars, he shares the head of the classification with Wyndham Clark and Nate Lashley, with a score of 134 (-8).

Hatton notably returned a 30 meter putt for a birdie on hole n° 6 (par 3), another 8 meters to make an eagle on the par 5 of hole n° 7 and a last of 9.5 m for a birdie at number 9.

“It’s not the kind of putts you get in regularly, so to finish the course like this makes me really happy,” he said.

The three co-leaders are closely followed by a group of six players, including Australian Adam Scott, reigning Olympic champion Xander Schauffele and 2022 PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas, all at 135 (-7) .

Englishman Tommy Fleetwood, who had taken the lead at the end of the first day, leads a group of three pursuers two strokes behind the leaders.

For his part, world No. 3 Rory McIlroy, who has won the tournament three times in his career, returned a disappointing 73 card and narrowly passed the ax.
