Is the spring of 2022 particularly stormy? If last May was marked by new heat records, disturbances also seem to be there for several weeks. After the sometimes stifling heat, it is not uncommon for violent storms to break out.

This weekend, several departments were no exception to the rule. Between Saturday and Sunday, Météo France recorded 50,000 lightning strikes in 24 hours. “For the first time in twenty years, 65 departments experienced orange vigilance at the same time”, announced for his part the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin on Twitter.

The damage was considerable in places. Thousands of homes were deprived of electricity, several people were injured and a woman died in Rouen, trapped under a car after being swept away by the waters.

Alas, this violent episode may well not be the last this month.

Indeed, if Météo France announces new heat peaks, thunderstorms are also to be expected, especially in Ile-de-France, in the East and South-West. Brittany, Normandy and Hauts-de-France should be relatively spared from lightning.

The second half of June should also be marked by a certain grayness and continuous showers in many departments.

But where and when will the thunderstorms hit in the next few days and the next two weeks? Discover in our slideshow the 73 departments where we have already announced their return *.
