Like the month of April, the month of May 2023 is marked by climate variations. If the temperatures have increased since the Ascension weekend, this does not prevent the return of the stormy showers. Indeed, Météo-France warns of a yellow thunderstorm vigilance in several departments on Friday May 26. Discover in our slideshow below those who are affected by the return of the rains.

Alexandre Isgro, meteorologist for La Chaîne Météo, nevertheless informs that the sky will be sunny over most of the country. Indeed, “the situation is blocked in the north of the country with a powerful anticyclone. It protects us from disturbances”, he specifies. Temperatures also continue to rise until reaching a peak of heat during the Whitsun weekend.

If the situation improves compared to Thursday, May 26 when 17 departments were affected by a yellow thunderstorm alert, some departments will still experience the rains this Friday. This is explained by the phenomenon of the cold drop which is beginning to shift towards Spain. As a reminder, the expression designates an area at high altitude where temperatures approach -30°C. This situation is then responsible for the cool and unstable weather that has persisted in recent weeks.

In addition, in the departments spared by the rains, gusts of wind should still occur. In Brittany and Hauts-de-France, “the northeast wind is fresh and sensitive for 30 to 40 km / h in the morning. It strengthens with gusts sometimes sustained between 60 and 70 km / h in the evening. on the coast of the Channel coast”, concludes Alexandre Isgro. This bad weather should not last for the day.
