Heat wave alert in France. This stifling and lasting heat, present throughout the country, forces the prefectures and municipalities to adapt the festivities of July 14, 2022. In certain departments or cities, fireworks have thus been prohibited.
The prefect of Vaucluse told Actu.fr that the vegetation is currently “in a state of advanced drought” to explain the need for this ban. The embers from the fires could fall on the vegetation and cause fires.
According to Actu.fr, the ban concerns the whole of Vaucluse and Charente-Maritime. It is also in force in the cities of Digne-les-Bains, Barcelonnette, Castellane and Seyne-les-Alpes in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence.
The ban also concerns the Gironde, in the towns of Canéjan, Pessac, Gradignan or even Saint-Médard-en-Jalles and near predominantly forest-dwelling municipalities. On the Gard side, a dozen municipalities, including Nîmes, have canceled their fireworks.
The cities of Arles, Aubagne and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence in the Bouches-du-Rhône have also given up on this moment of festivity. Finally, the municipality of Bouaye (Loire-Atlantique) and the municipalities of Seine-Maritime as well as the town hall of Poiré-sur-Vie (Vendée) also prohibit the fireworks of July 14, 2022.
The festivities are maintained at your place? Be careful though! In many departments, temperatures will still be very high in the evening, this July 14, 2022. Find out where in our slideshow below.
