According to forecasts by meteorologists from La Chaîne Météo, this summer season should have a surplus close to 1.5°C to 2°C above the three-month averages. We could therefore well face one of the three hottest summers observed in France since 1900 with those of 2003 and 2018.
But this is not the only record that could mark this year 2022. Indeed, the forecasts of Météo France for this Monday, July 18, 2022 announce a significant heat wave episode. As La Dépêche reports, the meteorological service predicts that “monthly temperature records will be approached, even exceeded during the peak of the episode (…) in the South-West, Center-West and the lower Rhône valley. “
With such a rise in temperatures, this day could indeed “be one of the hottest ever recorded on the scale of France” describes Météo France. So far, the record stood at an average of 29.4°C over the day and had been reached twice, on August 5, 2003 and July 25, 2019.
