Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. Your children or yourselves will open the ninth box of the Advent calendar this Friday, December 9 and many French people will have the joy of seeing the first snowflakes of winter fall at the same time. This weekend of December 10 and 11 will indeed be polar, with a drop in temperatures and the arrival of snow.

As La Chaîne Météo explains, “in the continuity of the week, the cold weather will continue this weekend”. “The cold will generally be dry with the generalization and intensification of the frost”, adds the specialized site, noting that “a few sleet of snow” could be observed punctually in several regions. These are expected from Brittany to Pas-de-Calais on Saturday December 10, via part of Normandy. On Sunday, the showers will spread to other regions, going as far as the east of Ile-de-France and the Center-Val de Loire.

In the plain, one to three centimeters of snow are expected in the regions concerned and which are not used to this light white down. As far as temperatures are concerned, they will be freezing and below 0°C throughout the country, except for the South-West and South-East departments, where the maximum will be 3°C.

In addition to the cold, some may observe a few snowflakes tomorrow morning. Météo France, in its bulletin for Friday, December 9, placed 24 departments on yellow alert for risks related to snow and ice. The institute evokes “in the night from Thursday to Friday” a “risk of freezing precipitation and / or snow at low altitude”. The Weather Channel, for its part, is also issuing an alert for this Thursday evening and the night of Thursday to Friday, evoking the risk of freezing rain, but also a mixture of rain and snow which can be observed in several departments. Here are the 21 departments concerned.
