The eighth wave finally seems to have reached its peak of infections. Much less virulent than its predecessors, it has however caused its share of contaminations, hospitalizations, and deaths.
According to the latest epidemiological report from the National Public Health Agency, we have observed a “slowdown in the circulation” of the Covid-19 epidemic in France, accompanied by a drop in hospital indicators and a reduction in deaths linked to the virus.
If these data are reassuring, it is however increasingly difficult to monitor contamination in the country. Indeed, since October 27, 2022, a strike has been taking place in medical analysis laboratories, which therefore no longer communicate the results of screening tests against Covid-19 to the national file of screening tests, reports La Dépêche.
Beyond this strike, the epidemic is more difficult to measure because many people no longer get tested. On average, there are just under 90,000 tests recorded each day in the country, the lowest level since August 2020.
Despite everything, the epidemic wave seems to be receding. However, in some departments, the incidence rate remains particularly high and it is better not to lose the barrier gestures to avoid an epidemic rebound.
In a report published on October 24, the Covars, successor to the Scientific Council, proposed several avenues to the government to limit the risks of an epidemic rebound… Among which is the return of the wearing of compulsory masks in closed places.
In the slideshow below, discover the list of departments where the incidence rate is the highest as of November 7, 2022.
