(Kingsey Falls) Quebec paper and recycling giant Cascades announced Friday that Alain Lemaire will hand over his duties as chairman of the board of directors to Patrick Lemaire at the next annual general meeting of shareholders which will take place in May 2024.

Alain Lemaire will nevertheless continue to sit on the board of directors as a director.

Patrick Lemaire, who has a degree in mechanical engineering, has served on the board of directors of Cascades since 2016 and was President and CEO of Boralex from 2006 until his retirement in December 2020.

At Cascades, where he held several roles between 1988 and 2006, Patrick Lemaire was notably general manager of five factories and vice-president and chief operating officer of the containerboard packaging sector.

The president and CEO of Cascades, Mario Plourde, affirms in a press release that Alain Lemaire has masterfully chaired the work of the board of directors over the last decade and he believes that Patrick Lemaire has all the qualities to successfully assume the presidency.

This news is announced following the death, on November 8, of one of the founders of Cascades, Bernard Lemaire, at the age of 87.
