Summer has not yet arrived, and yet the critical level of our water resources is confirmed and is set to continue or even worsen in the coming weeks, as forecast by the Ministry of Ecological Transition. As for the risk of drought, it is considered “very likely” in 26 departments of France. Other territories are subject to a “probable” risk of water shortage. This is why the various prefectures have taken the decision to implement various measures aimed at slowing down these shortages.

Even if it is no longer a secret, according to the Bureau of Geological and Mining Research (BRGM), groundwater is a major issue, since it represents no less than two thirds of our drinking water consumption. Also affected by this phenomenon of shortage, agriculture receives almost a third of its consumption from natural resources. The organization recalls that the economic situation was still “unsatisfactory over a large part of the country”, with an occupancy rate of nearly 68% for the month of May.
