Valerie Bertinelli has filed for legal separation with her husband Tom Vitale.

On Wednesday, the Food Network star filed court papers in Los Angeles asking for a judge to end their marriage. Their relationship was almost a decade long.

Vitale and Bertinelli tied the knot in 2011 on New Year’s Day. According to TMZ, the sparks seemed to have died down when Vitale listed “irreconcilable differing” as the reason she split.

According to the gossip outlet Bertinelli requested that the court deny them spousal support as neither one of them is eligible for it. The prenuptial agreement was in place between the couple to tie up any issues regarding how their assets would be divided up. They do not share any children.

Bertinelli’s second spouse was Vitale.

From 1981 to 2007, she was married to Eddie Van Halen. She was previously married to Eddie Van Halen from 1981 to 2007.

After a long battle with cancer, Van Halen passed away in October 2020. He was 65.

Bertinelli, in a tribute, vowed to Van Halen “in our next lives my love” at the time of his passing.

She wrote that her life was changed for the better 40 years ago when she met you. “You were the only true light in my life. Our son, Wolfgang, was it.”

Wolfgang stated that his father’s passing “still doesn’t feel real” in August.

Wolfgang captioned an Instagram set at the time, “I’ve had so much dreams lately where Pop is just doing normal things and then it becomes a dream. I stop doing whatever I’m doing to hug him for as many as I can until my wake up.”

He continued, “I miss him so much.” “I cannot believe he isn’t here anymore. Still doesn’t feel real. I’m doing my best, Pop.”

Fox News Digital reached out to Bertinelli’s representative for clarification but he did not immediately reply.
