(London) Danish international midfielder Christian Eriksen, who injured his ankle at the end of January, has returned to collective training with Manchester United, coach Erik Ten Hag announced on Tuesday.

The player’s return to the game will be “not tomorrow” (Wednesday), for the late match of the 25th day of the Premier League against Brentford, said the Dutchman in a press conference.

But, he added, “he’s back on the pitch, he’s back in collective training today so we’ll see how quickly he can progress.”

The Red Devils, who have a very busy end to the season, badly need the reinforcement of their midfielder who was initially supposed to be absent at least until the end of the month.

Eriksen (31) was injured in an FA Cup match after being the victim of a bad tackle from his opponents.

Currently 5th in the Premier League, tied on points with Newcastle (3rd) and Tottenham (4th) – the latter having two more games on the clock – United is aiming for qualification for the Champions League.

Winner of the League Cup at the end of February, and still in contention for the semi-finals of the FA Cup and the quarter-finals of the Europa League, Manchester has played two games a week without stopping since the end of the World Cup.

If he goes all the way in the two remaining Cups, the pace will be the same until the end of the season.
