Accident Involving Gyroplane Blamed on Foggy Conditions in Les Escoumins
Around 1:15 pm this afternoon, the Sûreté du Québec was alerted to the crash landing of a gyroplane, a type of small helicopter, near the Brochet and St-Onge lakes a few kilometers from Les Escoumins.
Élisabeth Marquis-Guy, spokesperson for the SQ, confirmed that the 2 occupants of the aircraft sustained injuries, with the first occupant reportedly suffering “significant” injuries.
Both individuals were transported to the Chicoutimi hospital, and their lives are not in danger.
The spokesperson indicated that a blanket of fog may have hindered the pilot’s maneuvers during the afternoon.
