It was a Quebec-flavored final on Canada’s Got Talent on Tuesday night. Dance troupes Conversion, from Trois-Rivières, and The Cast, from Lévis, then Laval impersonator and humorist Geneviève Côté were among the eight finalists.
It was the 37 young dancers of Conversion who won top honors and the $150,000 scholarship. Led by Vincent Desjardins, the group offered a number inspired by the syndrome of the blank page which delighted judges Howie Mandel, Lilly Singh, Kardinal Offishall and Trish Stratus. She called it, in French, “absolutely perfect.”
The Cast took second place at the Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls. The 32 dancers presented a choreography on Hit the Road Jack, by Ray Charles.
Geneviève Côté did not manage to finish in the top four, but still distinguished herself among the 462 candidates for the season.
This is a second consecutive Quebec triumph after that of singer Jeannick Fournier, last year.
