(Stuttgart) Poland’s Iga Swiatek, world No.1, won the Stuttgart tournament for the second consecutive year, which kicks off the clay-court season in Europe, dominating Sunday her first pursuer in the WTA ranking, Aryna Sabalenka, in two sets (6-3, 6-4).

Double winner of Roland-Garros (2020, 2022), Swiatek signs her 13th success on the circuit at the age of 21, the second in Stuttgart after having already dominated Aryna Sabalenka on German clay last year in the final (6-2, 6-2).

At the top of the world rankings since April 4, 2022 and back after a month of absence due to discomfort in the ribs, Swiatek thus lays the groundwork for the season on clay, five weeks from Roland-Garros, where she will be one of the contenders for the Suzanne-Lenglen Cup.

On the way to the Porte d’Auteuil courts, the players will head to Madrid for the WTA 1000 tournament from the middle of next week.
