Tirico of NBC hopes to complete the Olympics after Super Sunday

Mike Tirico flew over 12,500 miles and hosted two major sporting events in the last week.

He isn’t finished.

Tirico will host the final week at the Winter Olympics from NBC Sports Group Headquarters in Stamford. After five days in Beijing, he returned to the U.S. and anchored primetime coverage on February 8. Before heading to Los Angeles for the Super Bowl and three days’ Olympics, he did the February 9-10 shows from NBC headquarters.

Tirico stated Sunday night that the Olympics were hosted from this lake set (outside SoFi Stadium), the field of Super Bowl and our studio in Connecticut. Tirico stated that he only needed two cups of coffee to get through Sunday’s day. This included the five-hour pregame and the presentation of the Vince Lombardi trophy to the Los Angeles Rams following their 23-20 win over the Cincinnati Bengals. Then, Tirico hosted the primetime Olympics, which began 21 minutes earlier due to how fast the Super Bowl ended.

Tirico stated that he thought he was in Pacific time because he had to travel through three time zones during the past week. This was especially helpful on Saturday, when Tirico had to practice the Super Bowl pregame show and then go into Olympics coverage.

“I feel great. Tirico stated that he doesn’t feel dragging. It’s been beyond my wildest expectations and it’s been so much fun and energizing. It was an amazing experience. Hosting the Super Bowl pregame shows is the pinnacle of hosting in America. It is incredible to host the Olympics on the field.

Tirico praised Super Bowl pregame producers Tommy Roy, Matt Casey, as well as NBC Olympics executive production producer Molly Solomon, and primetime producer Rob Hyland’s work in coordinating production schedules and meetings. Tirico claims he has missed one pre-Olympics show meeting.

He said that the Super Bowl matchup between Rams and Bengals was a good one, as he was familiarized with both teams. Tirico won the wild-card round victory over the Las Vegas Raiders for the Bengals, while the Rams appeared twice on Sunday Night Football.

Tirico was also forced to look forward by the rhythm of the Olympics competition, which made it impossible for him to see beyond the present.

Tirico has set a goal to be strong for the last nights of the Olympics, particularly with women’s figure skating and the medal rounds for men’s and ladies’ hockey before the closing ceremonies on Sunday.

He said, “I think that with any host of the Olympics, part our joy is helping to put those final essays together and the final capsule about what the games all about.” “And then, the next Monday, I’m going chill. That’s certain.
