Tim Bachman, founding member of the Canadian rock band Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO), is no more.

Randy Bachman confirmed his brother’s death on Sunday through his manager.

Tim Bachman’s son, Paxton Bachman, posted on Facebook that his father died on Friday, explaining that he received a call last week from the nursing home where his father was staying, telling him that his father’s condition worsened and subsequent tests revealed cancer throughout the brain.

The Winnipeg-based band BTO released their debut album in May 1973 and the band’s second album, Bachman-Turner Overdrive II, released in December 1973, became a huge hit in the United States and Canada, featuring the songs Let it Ride and Takin’Care of Business.

Tim Bachman, who played guitar and sang, left BTO in 1974, but had joined the band for tours over the years.

His death follows that of his brother Robbie Bachman in January, who passed away at the age of 69, who was also a co-founder of Bachman-Turner Overdrive.
