These stars victims of identity theft

Today, few stars do not have an account on social networks. Whether on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or even TikTok, many celebrities share their daily lives, their joys, their sorrows, their thoughts with their fans.

But for the stars, it can quickly turn into a nightmare. In recent years, we have lost count of the number of personalities who have had their identity usurped on the web. Malicious people use the notoriety of certain celebrities to extract money from their fans. To do this, these scammers create fake accounts and pretend to be stars in order to get in direct contact with Internet users to scam them. The latter think they have won a contest to win a state-of-the-art smartphone, a console, a show ticket or an autographed photo… But as revealed by a survey published in July 2018 by Les Décodeurs Monde, to receive this gift, Internet users have to call a premium rate number.

The victim then makes the call, “retrieves a code and gives it to the seller so that he can recover from the publisher of the premium rate number the sum generated by the call, minus the commission of the telephone operator and the ‘editor of numbers’, explain our colleagues. But in the end, the victim will never see the color of his gift, only that of a hefty phone bill.

A misadventure recently encountered by Patrick Bruel, Julien Courbet, Michel Cymes, Laurence Boccolini and even Alessandra Sublet… disgusting”, was indignant Patrick Bruel, Sunday, May 30, 2021, on the antenna of RFM. “There is not an artist who is going to ask you for money. There is not an artist who is going to ask you for benefits for this or that”, hammered the singer.
