This is the new quartet of The Voice Kids. Since August 4, Nolwenn Leroy, Slimane, Kendji Girac and Patrick Fiori have been the coaches of the musical competition for children, hosted by Nikos Aliagas on TF1. For this ninth edition, the talent-show signed ITV Studios promises a talented cast with around sixty young candidates.
Among these prodigies selected for the blind auditions, some have glued celebrities to their chairs with their voices. “In the face of children, we are disarmed. It’s something very powerful”, confided the singer Nolwenn Leroy during the press conference which Planet attended last June. The only female juror, the forty-year-old arrives for the first time in the titular role of the show, like Slimane, the winner of the fifth season among adults.
However, these four great voices of French song are linked by another common point: parenthood. Each has become a parent of one (or more) child(ren) and gives rare secrets about their family life. A role that is not so far from their responsibilities with the talents they support in their team.
For Nolwenn Leroy, several candidates are the same age as his son Marin. The fruit of his relationship with tennis player Arnaud Clément. “Some are very young, the age of my little Marin. It starts at 6 years old, so inevitably, you see your baby on stage”, she confided to the TF1 Info site. She adds to Gala on her role as a coach. “We have an even more natural and tenfold empathy. We project ourselves, we imagine our child in this situation”.
For Slimane, father of a daughter named Esmeralda (born in January 2022), he recognizes against our colleagues. “My daughter is one and a half years old. She is barely starting to speak so I don’t think my status as a dad helps me better understand my role as a coach in this kids’ version”. However, the one who wrote Thousands of I love you in tribute to his offspring admits to Télé-Loisirs that “for a child, it is important to be congratulated”. A sincerity and benevolence which he will use with his talents.
As for Kendji Girac, coach since season 7, he dedicated his song Eva to his daughter born in January 2021. A fatherhood that changed the life of the winner of the third edition of the TF1 talent show. “I have the impression that all the children are mine. We are more sensitive”, declared the artist for Télécâble Sat Hebdo.
Finally, Patrick Fiori, a historic coach with four victories to his credit, perceives his role as a coach with pedagogy with young candidates. “We can say yes or no from the moment we explain things,” said the father of three children during the press conference last June. “You have to have that psychology indirectly, it’s not our flesh and blood. You have to try to find the right behavior every time to find the words and live up to them.”
